Public Practice Accountant

We are seeking a newly designated accountant or individual that is close to receiving their CPA designation. The successful candidate must have excellent English – verbal and written communication skills. Perhaps you have worked in a bookkeeping or Accounting technician role and are ready to put your education skills into play. Accuracy and intermediate Quickbooks skills are a must – as well as a recent Corporate level taxation course. Problem solving (ability to “find it” and “fix it”)

  • GST return preparation and filing
  • Prepare and maintain government remittances/filings, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable and payroll transactions
  • Set-up client files, and other aspects of accounting work
  • Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
  • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies and discuss with team members and or business owner
  • Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments
  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
